Client: a secondary school teacher with 8 years' experience moving into UX research. Task: a one-page cover letter for a junior UX researcher job that turns teaching experience into the skills the job asks for.

Dear Hiring Team,

For eight years my job has been to understand why people get stuck, and to change things so they don't. As a science teacher, I did that for 150 students a year. I would like to do it for your users as a Junior UX Researcher at [Company].

Your posting asks for three things, and my experience matches each of them:

• Interviewing people. I hold more than 300 parent and student conversations a year, and I know how to ask open questions and listen without leading.
• Testing and improving. I redesigned our lab worksheets after watching where students hesitated; test scores on those topics rose by 18%.
• Sharing findings. I present results to colleagues and parents in plain language, with clear next steps.

This year I completed a UX research certificate and ran a usability study of our school's homework app with 12 students. The report and the redesign proposal are in my portfolio: [link].

I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could support your research team.

Kind regards, [Name]
