About this service

We write phonics and early reading worksheets that follow a sound sequence: letter sounds, CVC words, blends, digraphs, then long vowels and tricky words. Each sheet uses only the sounds already taught plus the new one, so the decodable sentences really can be read by a child at that step.

  • What you getWorksheets with word lists, decodable sentences and simple tasks for each sound, plus an answer key and a picture idea where a picture would help.
  • Sound sequenceOne new sound per sheet on top of known ones
  • Decodable sentencesOnly sounds already taught
  • Sound tasksSort, match, fill the missing letter
  • Tricky wordsIntroduced a few at a time
  • Parent or teacher tipsHow to run each sheet in five minutes

  3. 3
WritingWe write the sheets and check every word decodes

What we need from you

The child's age, the language, which sounds are already known, the phonics programme you follow and any tricky words taught so far.

We will ask you:

  • How old is the child and in which language are they learning to read?
  • Which sounds or letters are already known?
  • Do you follow a phonics programme?

Questions and answers

Is this for a classroom or for home?

Both work. Each sheet has a short note for the adult on how to use it.

Will there be tracing letters and pictures?

The sheets come as Word (.docx) or PDF files with text only, so letter tracing and pictures are not drawn. We mark where to add a picture and which word it shows.

Can you do this for a language other than English?

Yes. Name the language, and we follow its usual letter order or your primer's.
