Files: a ZIP archive with index.html, the styles, script.js and 4 pictures drawn for the game. It works with a mouse, a finger and the arrow keys, keeps the best score on the player's device, and goes on the client's own hosting or in an iframe on their site. The pictures here are screenshots of the game.

Client: Maple Bean, a coffee shop that wanted a little game for its website and social pages to tell people about its autumn blend. Task: a catching game in warm autumn colours: the player moves a cup, catches coffee beans (+1), golden beans (+5), dodges ice cubes, has 3 lives and 2 levels; the end screen links to the menu.

About this service

A quiz for book lovers on a bookstore's site, a library page or a reading club: guess the novel from its first line, match heroes to their books or name the author of a famous title. It shows readers your taste and points them to books they might pick up next. You send the questions, the answer options and the right answers, and we lay them out on pages that feel like a library, in your colours, and write the code. We use only your questions and check nothing against the books, so look them over before you send them. Short quotes work best; long passages from books still under copyright are your decision. Covers appear only if you send them and may use them; otherwise we draw simple book icons. No server: the best score stays on the device. In Premium the end screen shows your promo code.

What we need from you

The questions, 2 to 4 options for each and the right answer, split into rounds if your package has more than one; quotes exactly as they appear in the editions you use. The theme of each round. Your colours and logo. Where the end-screen button leads, for example to a shelf of the books from the quiz. For Premium, the promo code and the score that unlocks it. Optionally up to 5 pictures as PNG, JPEG or WebP, such as covers you have the right to use.

Questions and answers

Can you write the questions about books?

We can shorten and tidy your wording, but the facts and quotes come from you: we do not make up questions about books or check them against the texts.

Can we show book covers?

Yes, if you send them and have the right to use them, as many shops do for books they sell. Otherwise we draw simple book icons.

Can each question lead to the book in our shop?

The game keeps the player in the quiz until the end. The end screen has one button with your link, for example to a shelf with all the books from the quiz.

Is there a shared leaderboard?

No. The game has no server, so each player sees only their own best score, kept on their device.
