"Bean Catcher" game for a coffee shop's website

The same game on a phone

The start screen on a phone

Files: a ZIP archive with index.html, the styles, script.js and 4 pictures drawn for the game. It works with a mouse, a finger and the arrow keys, keeps the best score on the player's device, and goes on the client's own hosting or in an iframe on their site. The pictures here are screenshots of the game.

Client: Maple Bean, a coffee shop that wanted a little game for its website and social pages to tell people about its autumn blend. Task: a catching game in warm autumn colours: the player moves a cup, catches coffee beans (+1), golden beans (+5), dodges ice cubes, has 3 lives and 2 levels; the end screen links to the menu.

The client and all details are made up.

About this service

A trivia game guests play on their own phones at a conference, a trade show, a corporate party or a meetup: about the event's topic, your company, the host city or the programme. You show a link or a QR code on a slide or a stand, and each guest plays alone, at their own pace, between talks. Send us the questions, options and right answers, the event's name and colours, and we build the trivia with pictures in that style. There is no server, so the game does not know who played: there is no live scoreboard on the big screen, no host controls and no list of winners. If you give prizes at a stand, guests can show you their end screen, and in Premium it shows your promo code to those who score enough. You put the game on your site before the event.

What we need from you

The name of the event, its date and who comes. The questions, 2 to 4 options for each and the right answer, split into rounds if your package has more than one; facts about speakers or partners only as they have agreed to share. Your colours and logo. What guests should do at the end: show the screen at a stand, or follow a button to your site. For Premium, the promo code and the score that unlocks it. Optionally up to 5 pictures as PNG, JPEG or WebP that you have the right to use.

We will ask you:

  • What is the event?
  • Your questions and answers
  • The event's colours and style
  • What happens at the end?

Questions and answers

Can results show live on the stage screen?

No. The game has no server, so it does not collect results from guests' phones and there is no live scoreboard or host control. Each guest sees only their own score.

Can you make the QR code?

The QR code points to the address where the game lives, which is on your site, so it is made after you put the game there. Any QR code tool turns that address into a code in a minute.

What if the venue Wi-Fi is weak?

The game is a small page. Once it has opened, it plays without sending anything, so the connection matters only at the start.

How do we pick winners?

The game cannot do it for you: it keeps no list of players. Guests can show their end screen at your stand, and you decide the rules on the spot.
