Files: a ZIP archive with index.html, the styles, script.js and 4 pictures drawn for the game. It works with a mouse, a finger and the arrow keys, keeps the best score on the player's device, and goes on the client's own hosting or in an iframe on their site. The pictures here are screenshots of the game.

Client: Maple Bean, a coffee shop that wanted a little game for its website and social pages to tell people about its autumn blend. Task: a catching game in warm autumn colours: the player moves a cup, catches coffee beans (+1), golden beans (+5), dodges ice cubes, has 3 lives and 2 levels; the end screen links to the menu.

About this service

A word-guessing game in the spirit of the old pencil-and-paper classic, but kind: the player sees empty cells and a hint, taps letters on the on-screen keyboard and opens the word step by step. Each wrong letter takes one try, shown as something from your world, such as a cup of coffee going cold or a balloon losing air. Send us the words with a hint for each and the language, and we draw that picture of the tries in your style and build the game. Words can be your product names, terms from your field or seasonal words for a newsletter. The letters are on the screen, so it plays the same on a phone and a computer. There is no server: the best score stays on the device, with no sign-in or shared leaderboard. In Premium the end screen shows your promo code.

What we need from you

The words for each round with a short hint for each, and the language. What should show the tries running out: a picture from your world, or let us suggest one. How many tries a player gets, if you have a wish. Your colours and logo and where the end-screen button leads. For Premium, the promo code. Optionally up to 5 pictures as PNG, JPEG or WebP that you have the right to use.

Questions and answers

Is it a hangman game?

It plays the same way, but the tries are shown with a friendly picture you choose, so it suits a brand site and children too.

Can a word have two or more words in it?

Yes, short phrases work: the spaces are shown from the start. Phrases of up to about 15 letters fit a phone best.

Can I see the hidden words in the files?

Yes, they sit in script.js, so anyone who opens the code can read them. That is fine for a game, but do not hide secrets in it.

Is there a shared leaderboard?

No. The game has no server, so each player sees only their own best score, kept on their device.
