The client and all details are made up.

About this service

We create retro logo concepts for vinyl record shops, independent labels and DJ crates: spinning records, tonearms, label rings, 60s psychedelic or 70s soul lettering and the badge look of old 45 sleeves. Each concept is planned for the round centre label of a record, a shop sticker on a sleeve, a tote bag and a Discogs or Bandcamp avatar.

What is included

  • What you getRecord store or label logo concepts in high resolution, each a different retro direction, from a vinyl disc emblem to a 70s soul wordmark. Delivered as PNG files; source vector files (.ai, .eps, .svg) are not included. These are concepts, not a registered trademark: check availability before registering.

What we need from you

The shop or label name, the genres you focus on (jazz, soul, punk, techno), the decade that fits, colours and links to record labels or sleeves you like.

We will ask you:

  • What is the store or label name?
  • Which genres are you known for?
  • Which decade should it recall?
  • Is it a shop, a label or both?

Questions and answers

Can you design the full record sleeve?

This offer covers the logo only. A release cover is a separate illustration or album cover job.

Will it print on the record centre label?

Yes, as a design. The pressing plant will ask for vector or print files, so have the chosen concept redrawn first.

Can it copy a classic label's look, like Blue Note?

We can take inspiration from an era, but we don't copy existing label logos, which belong to their owners.
