Files: a ZIP archive with 5 HTML pages, the styles and 7 pictures drawn for the articles, ready to upload to the client's hosting. New articles are added by copying an article page. The pictures here are screenshots of the site.

Client: Anna Berg, who writes simple home recipes and wanted her own blog instead of posts scattered across social networks. Task: a calm blog in warm white and olive with serif headings: a home page, 3 articles from her notes (pantry staples, Sunday lunch prep, one-pan lemon chicken) and an About page with her email and Instagram.

The client and all details are made up.

About this service

A gadget review blog you put on your own hosting, made for readers deciding what to buy. Each review page has the device's name, a table of its specs, your pros and cons, headings for what you tested, your verdict, pictures, related reviews and links to your social profiles, and to shops if you give them. Send us your reviews, or the devices with your test notes, and we write them up (about 600 words each), draw the pictures and build the site in plain HTML and CSS. Specs, prices, test results and scores come only from you: we do not test devices, copy figures from makers' pages or review things you have not used. It is a static site, with no admin panel, comments, reader ratings, comparison tool or forms. Hosting and the domain are on your side.

What we need from you

The name of the blog and which devices you cover. For each review: the device, its specs as you want them shown, what you tested and found, the pros and cons, your verdict and score if you give one, the price and date if you show them, or your finished texts. Shop or affiliate links and the disclosure text you use for them. The author's name and a few lines for the About page, your contacts and social links. Your colours and style. Optionally up to 5 pictures as PNG, JPEG or WebP: your logo or your own photos of the devices.

We will ask you:

  • The name and topic of the blog
  • Reviews: your texts, or devices and test notes
  • Links and disclosure
  • Colours and style

Questions and answers

Do you test the gadgets?

No. The reviews are built from your own testing and notes. We do not add results, benchmarks, scores or opinions you have not given, and we do not review things you have not used.

Can I add affiliate links?

Yes: give the links and your disclosure text, and we put them in. Joining those programmes and following their rules is on your side.

Can you use the maker's product photos?

Only if you send them along with the right to use them. Otherwise the covers are drawn for the blog, and your own photos of the device, up to 5, can go in with the order.

Is there a comparison tool or reader ratings?

No: a static site stores and sends nothing. Comparisons go in as tables inside your articles, with the figures you give.

How do I add new reviews later?

Copy a review page, change the device, the spec table, the text and the picture in any code editor and link it from the home page; the guide shows how. Your developer can move the design to a blogging platform if you publish often.
