Host lines (opening)

Tom (in captain's hat): "Ahoy, crew! I'm Captain Redbeard, and this morning a seagull dropped this on our deck." (holds up a torn map) "Half a map! Legend says the other half is hidden right here, guarded by riddles only real pirates can solve. Are you real pirates?" (kids shout "Aye!") "I can't hear you over the waves!" (louder "AYE!") "Then earn your gold. Three trials, one treasure. Crews, to your ships!"

Games and contests

Cannonball relay (20 min)

Each crew carries water balloons on a big spoon to their "ship" (a hula hoop) 10 metres away. A dropped "cannonball" goes back to the start. The crew with the most balloons in 3 minutes wins a map piece. Rain option: use ping-pong balls indoors.

Knots & riddles (20 min)

Two tasks per crew: tie a simple knot from a picture card, and solve 3 riddles. Example: "I have a bed but never sleep, a mouth but never eat. What am I?" (A river.)

Treasure hunt (35 min)

Five clues in rhyme lead around the yard. Clue 1: "Where green things grow and the hose sleeps tight, look under the pot that's painted white." The last clue leads to a chest with gold coin bags for everyone — no crew loses.

Props list

  • Torn map in 4 pieces, 5 rhyme clue cards

About this service

New Year's Eve has one fixed point, midnight, and every party either builds up to it or drifts and loses guests long before the clock strikes. We write a scenario that paces the night: games to break the ice, a look back at the year, contests and toasts, a countdown with words for the host and something to do in the first minutes after midnight. It works for a house party, an office celebration or a restaurant night.

What is included

  • What you getA New Year's Eve scenario with timing up to midnight and beyond, host lines, games and contests with rules, a year-in-review game, a countdown script and a props list, as formatted text on the order page.
  • Pacing to midnightEnergy builds instead of fading
  • Year in reviewA game about your group's year
  • Countdown scriptWords and cues for the last minute
  • After midnightWishes, dancing and late games
  • TraditionsYour country's customs worked in

What we need from you

The number and age of guests, whether they know each other, the venue, start time and how long after midnight the party goes, a theme if any and the time zone or country, since traditions differ.

We will ask you:

  • How many guests, and do they know each other?
  • Where is the party?
  • What time does it start, and how late will it go?
  • Which New Year traditions matter to your guests?

Questions and answers

Can you include kids?

Yes. Many family parties do an early countdown for children around 9 pm, and we can add one with games for them.

Can guests in different countries join online?

Yes. We add short video call moments and can mark countdowns for other time zones as they come.

Will the games work after a few drinks?

Later games are simple and safe on purpose: no running, no complex rules and nothing that embarrasses anyone.
