Host lines (opening)

Tom (in captain's hat): "Ahoy, crew! I'm Captain Redbeard, and this morning a seagull dropped this on our deck." (holds up a torn map) "Half a map! Legend says the other half is hidden right here, guarded by riddles only real pirates can solve. Are you real pirates?" (kids shout "Aye!") "I can't hear you over the waves!" (louder "AYE!") "Then earn your gold. Three trials, one treasure. Crews, to your ships!"

Games and contests

Cannonball relay (20 min)

Each crew carries water balloons on a big spoon to their "ship" (a hula hoop) 10 metres away. A dropped "cannonball" goes back to the start. The crew with the most balloons in 3 minutes wins a map piece. Rain option: use ping-pong balls indoors.

Knots & riddles (20 min)

Two tasks per crew: tie a simple knot from a picture card, and solve 3 riddles. Example: "I have a bed but never sleep, a mouth but never eat. What am I?" (A river.)

Treasure hunt (35 min)

Five clues in rhyme lead around the yard. Clue 1: "Where green things grow and the hose sleeps tight, look under the pot that's painted white." The last clue leads to a chest with gold coin bags for everyone — no crew loses.

Props list

  • 16 bandanas, name tags, captain's hat
  • Torn map in 4 pieces, 5 rhyme clue cards

About this service

A graduation ceremony is mostly logistics with a few big emotional moments, and the script has to handle both. We write the running order from processional to recessional, the master of ceremonies' lines, introductions for speakers and award winners, and the diploma presentation with a realistic pace per name. Notes cover where graduates line up, when the audience may cheer and what to do if the schedule slips.

The school level, the number of graduates and how diplomas are handed out, the speakers and awards, traditions and the venue.

We will ask you:

  • What kind of school or program is graduating?
  • How many graduates are there, and how are diplomas handed out?
  • Who speaks, and which awards are given?
  • Which traditions should be included?

Questions and answers

Do you write the speeches too?

This service covers the running order and MC lines. Valedictorian or principal speeches are a separate graduation speech service.

How do you handle hard-to-pronounce names?

We add a step where graduates write a phonetic spelling on their name card, and the reader practises with the list beforehand.

What if it rains at an outdoor ceremony?

We include a shortened indoor version of the order and the announcement to make if you move.
