About this service
We format your references in IEEE style for engineering, electronics and computer science papers: numbered in order of first citation, authors with initials first, abbreviated journal and conference names and the "in Proc." form for proceedings. Standards, patents, datasheets, software repositories and arXiv preprints each get the IEEE layout they need. We work only from the data you give us, without looking anything up online, and list what is missing.
What is included
- What you getAn IEEE reference list numbered in citation order with standard abbreviations, and a list of entries missing details; Premium also checks that the [n] numbers in your text match the list and run in order. You get it as text on the order page and as a Word (.docx) file.
- Citation orderNumbered as they first appear
- AbbreviationsIEEE Trans., Proc., Conf., Int.
- Technical sourcesStandards, patents, datasheets, GitHub
- PreprintsarXiv IDs and versions kept
How it works
- 1SourcesYou send references and their order
- 2NumberingWe format and number them
- 3GapsYou add the missing pages or DOIs
What we need from you
Your references as text, photos or a Word or PDF file, the order in which they are cited (or the paper itself) and the conference or journal template you follow, if any.
We will ask you:
- Is the order of citation in your text already fixed?
- Are you writing for a specific IEEE conference or journal?
- Do you cite standards, datasheets or code repositories?

Questions and answers
Can you abbreviate every journal name?
We abbreviate them by the standard IEEE word list. Rare journals may stay in full, and we mark them so you can check them.
My LaTeX paper uses BibTeX. Can you help?
We return a formatted list as text. If you need BibTeX entries in place of it, ask in the brief and we write them in plain text for your .bib file.
What if two references are the same paper?
We flag duplicates, such as a preprint and its published version, so you can keep one and renumber.
Do you look up missing details online?
No, we work only with what you send. Every source without a year, pages, DOI or publisher goes into a list, you add the details, and we update the entry within your revisions.
