About this service
We turn your photo into a portrait in the look of a classic oil painting: visible brushstrokes, rich deep colours, soft warm light on the face and a dark or muted background, as in old-master portraits. The style flatters most faces and suits gifts for parents and grandparents, a family heirloom feel or a statement avatar. We keep the face recognizable and can change the clothes to period dress or a formal suit if you ask.

What we need from you
Up to 5 photos with the face sharp and lit from one side if possible, which suits the oil look. Tell us the mood (warm and classic, dark and dramatic), any clothes to change and the occasion. Send only photos you have the right to use, with permission from the people in them. We do not make ID or passport photos, do not work with nudity, and a face in deep shadow is partly recreated, not restored exactly.

Questions and answers
Is it painted with real oil paint?
No, it is a digital picture that looks like an oil painting. You can print it on canvas paper at a print shop in a small size, but it will not have the raised texture of real paint.
Can you paint me as a king, a queen or a famous person?
We can dress you in royal or period clothes with your own face. We do not turn you into a specific real person or celebrity, and we never put a famous face on your photo.
How large can I print it?
About 1.5 megapixels suits a small frame or a card. For a large wall canvas the brushstroke detail would look soft.
Will the face look exactly like the photo?
It stays recognizable, but the oil style softens details and the picture is redrawn, so small features can differ slightly. Check the likeness and ask for a revision if needed.
