About this service
We turn your photo into a light watercolour portrait: soft washes of colour, gentle edges that fade into white paper, and a fresh, airy feel that suits children, brides, mothers and pets. Watercolour works best with simple compositions, so a clear face on a calm background gives the most delicate result, while busy backgrounds are usually softened into a few loose strokes. It is a popular choice for baby announcements, wedding stationery, birthday cards and nursery walls.
What is included
- What you getPNG pictures of about 1.5 megapixels in a watercolour style, one per portrait in your package, each made from one of your photos in its shape, for cards, invitations and small frames. Faces stay recognizable, but small details and features can differ slightly.

How it works
- 1Photo and coloursYou upload the photo and describe the palette
- 2WatercolourWe paint the portrait in soft watercolour
- 3Delivery and revisionsYou check it and ask for changes within your package
What we need from you
Up to 5 photos with a clear face, ideally in soft daylight. Tell us the colours you like (pastel, bright, nearly monochrome) and how the portrait will be used. Send only photos you have the right to use, with the agreement of the people in them or their parents. A blurred or cut-off part of the face is recreated, not restored exactly.
We will ask you:
- Who is in the photo?
- Which colours do you like?
- Where will the portrait be used?

Questions and answers
Can I print it on a wedding invitation?
Yes, about 1.5 megapixels is enough for a portrait on a card or an invitation. It is not meant for large posters or wall canvases.
Will the background be removed?
In watercolour the background usually fades into light paper tones or a few strokes, so the face stands out. The picture always has a background; it is not a cut-out file with see-through areas.
Does watercolour work for a dark, moody photo?
It works, but watercolour is naturally light, so a dark photo becomes brighter and softer. If you want deep shadows, an oil style may suit you better.
Are there photos you won't use?
Photos for documents or ID, photos with nudity, including babies in the bath, and photos of people who have not agreed. We never replace a face with a celebrity or another real person.
