Files: a ZIP archive with 5 HTML pages, the styles and 7 pictures drawn for the articles, ready to upload to the client's hosting. New articles are added by copying an article page. The pictures here are screenshots of the site.

Client: Anna Berg, who writes simple home recipes and wanted her own blog instead of posts scattered across social networks. Task: a calm blog in warm white and olive with serif headings: a home page, 3 articles from her notes (pantry staples, Sunday lunch prep, one-pan lemon chicken) and an About page with her email and Instagram.

The client and all details are made up.

About this service

A food blog you put on your own hosting, where every recipe is easy to cook from a phone at the stove. Each recipe article has a short story, a list of ingredients with amounts, numbered steps, the cooking time and servings, a cover picture of the dish, related recipes and links to your social profiles. Send us your recipes, or the dishes to write about and how you make them, and we write the articles (about 600 words each), draw the pictures and build the site in plain HTML and CSS. We use only your amounts, times and tips: we do not test recipes or add calorie counts or health claims you have not given. It is a static site, with no admin panel, comments, ratings, search or forms that send anything. Hosting, the domain and putting it online are on your side.

What we need from you

The name of the blog and who cooks from it. For each recipe: the dish, the ingredients with amounts, the steps, the cooking time, the servings and your own tips, or your finished texts. Allergen or diet notes only if you want them shown, in your words. The author's name and a few lines for the About page, your contacts and social links. Your colours and style, or blogs you like. Optionally up to 5 pictures as PNG, JPEG or WebP: your logo or photos of your own dishes.

We will ask you:

  • The name and topic of the blog
  • Recipes: your texts, or the dishes to write about
  • About you and your contacts
  • Colours and style

Questions and answers

Can I use my own food photos?

Yes: send up to 5 photos of your own dishes with the order, and we place them where you say. The other picture slots get pictures drawn for the blog. More of your photos can be swapped in later by replacing the picture files, as the guide shows.

Do you check the recipes or count calories?

No. We lay out each recipe exactly as you give it and do not cook it, change the amounts or add calories, nutrition or health claims. If you want nutrition shown, give the figures and we put them in.

Can readers rate recipes or leave comments?

No: a static site does not store anything. A button can lead to your social profile, where readers talk about the dish, and a subscribe button to your mailing service's own sign-up page.

How do I add new recipes later?

Copy a recipe page, change the dish, ingredients, steps and picture in any code editor and add a link on the home page; the guide in the archive shows how. To publish without code, your developer can move the design to a blogging platform such as WordPress.

Will people find my recipes in search?

Each recipe page has its own title and description with the dish name, and the pages load fast. Rankings depend on your recipes and on how long the blog has been online, so we cannot promise positions.
