About this service
For a family tree, a genealogy profile or a printed chart of ancestors, we restore the faces that go next to the names: cabinet cards, passport-style portraits from old albums, group photos where great-aunts stand in a row. Tree charts and profile cards show photos small, so we focus on a clean, clear face and even tones, and lost parts are recreated to fit rather than restored from evidence. Each picture is made from one of your photos as a PNG of about 1.5 megapixels, good for online trees and printed charts but not for large prints.

- 2RestorationWe clean the damage and sharpen the faces

What we need from you
Up to 5 photos as PNG, JPEG or WebP. Tell us who is who if there are several people, what to fix, whether to colourize, and where the photos will go (Ancestry, MyHeritage, FamilySearch or a printed chart).
We will ask you:
- Who is in the photos?
- Where will the photos be used?
- What should we fix?
- Keep the original tones or colourize?

Questions and answers
Can you tell who the people are or date the photo?
No, we restore the picture only. Identifying people and dating photos is your research; keep the original scans as your record, because restored pictures contain recreated parts.
Can I get one person out of a group photo?
We restore the whole photo, then you crop each relative in your tree site or editor. A crop of one face from a big group will be small, so a single portrait, if you have one, gives a sharper result.
Will the faces stay true to the original?
They stay recognizable, but the picture is redrawn, so small features, a name written on the mount or an inscription can differ slightly. That is fine for a tree, but not for proving who someone was.
Can you restore old certificates or church records?
No. We never change documents, certificates or records, and we don't make ID photos. We also add no nudity and never put another real face into the photo; send photos you have the right to use.
