Restored family photo from the 1950s
Client: a family preparing a gift for their grandparents' anniversary. Task: remove scratches, stains and the crease, bring back sharpness and add natural colour, keeping the faces as they are.
The client and all details are made up.
About this service
We restore old photos of places: the house where a family lived, a farm, a street, a church, a market square or a view of the town. Buildings and skies show every scratch and stain, so we clean them, straighten out fading and bring back brick, wood, roofs and trees, and missing corners are recreated to fit the scene, not rebuilt from records. Each picture is made from one of your photos as a PNG of about 1.5 megapixels, good for a local history group, a post or a small print, not for a large wall print.

- 2RestorationWe clean the damage and bring the details back
- 3DeliveryYou get the PNG files and ask for changes within your package
What we need from you
Up to 5 photos as PNG, JPEG or WebP, postcards included, as long as you have the right to use them. Tell us the place and the years, what to fix, whether to colourize and any colours you know (a green gate, a red-brick church).
We will ask you:
- What place is in the photos, and when?
- What should we fix?
- Should we colourize, and which colours do you know?

Questions and answers
Will the shop signs and street names be readable?
Not reliably. Text in the picture is redrawn and can come out slightly different or blurred, so don't use the result to read a historic name or house number; keep the original scan for that.
Can you add a building that has been cut off?
We fill small missing corners so they fit the scene, but we can't rebuild what is outside the photo or what we can't see. A large lost part is recreated, so it will not be a true record of the building.
Which photos can I send?
Family photos and pictures you have the right to use; postcards and archive images may belong to someone else, so check first. We never change documents such as deeds or plans, and if people are clearly visible, they should agree to it. We add no nudity and never put a celebrity or anyone else into the scene.
