Summaries and a literature matrix of your research papers

Example result

Example for the Standard package

Literature matrix: 3 studies on remote work and employee wellbeing

Structured notes: Paper 1

Harlow & Byrne (2022), "Home as office: a two-wave study of remote employees"

  • Research question: Does moving to fully remote work change emotional exhaustion over 12 months?
  • Method: two-wave online survey, baseline and 12 months later
  • Sample: 612 office employees from 9 mid-sized firms; 71% retained at wave 2
  • Key findings: exhaustion fell slightly overall, but rose among employees with children under 6 and those without a separate room to work in
  • Limitations: self-report only; firms chose to take part, which may favour well-managed companies
  • Quotable: "The home was not the problem; the absence of a door was" (p. 14)

Themes and agreements

  • Conditions matter more than location. All three studies point to home setup, commute or team size as what decides whether remote work helps or hurts (Harlow & Byrne p. 14; Mendez et al. p. 9; Okafor p. 22).
  • Hybrid looks best for employees, but Okafor shows the cost moves to managers, who plan around whose day it is in the office.

Contradictions

  • Harlow & Byrne find exhaustion falls with full remote work; Mendez et al. find fully remote employees report lower life satisfaction than hybrid ones. The two measure different things (exhaustion vs. overall satisfaction), so they may not truly conflict.

Gaps

  • No study follows people for more than 12 months.
  • None compares employees and their managers within the same teams.
  • Wellbeing of employees with disabilities is not analysed separately in any of the three.

About this service

Send up to 5 research papers as PDF files with selectable text and tell us your topic and what to compare. For each paper we write structured notes: research question, method, sample, key findings, limitations and quotable points with page references. Then we set the papers side by side in a matrix and describe common themes, agreements, contradictions and gaps, as reading material for the review you write yourself.

What is included

  • What you getA Word document with structured notes on each paper and quotes with page numbers. From Standard, an Excel matrix with one row per paper and a summary of themes, agreements and contradictions; in Premium, also a synthesis of the gaps. Page numbers follow the text of your PDF and may differ from the journal pagination.

What we need from you

The papers as PDF with selectable text or Word (up to 5 files and about 40,000 words in total; longer texts are cut off), your topic and research question, what to compare, such as method, sample, country or outcome, and the citation style you use.

We will ask you:

  • What is the topic and research question of your work?
  • What should the papers be compared on?
  • Which citation style do you use?
  • Is there anything specific to look for in the papers?

Questions and answers

Will you write my literature review or thesis?

No. You get notes and a comparison as reading material; the review, essay or thesis you write yourself.

Can you find more papers on my topic?

No. We work only with the papers you send and do not search databases or the web.

Why might page numbers differ from the journal?

We take them from the PDF text. If your copy is a preprint or has its own numbering, check the pages against the published version.

What if my papers are very long?

All files together can hold about 40,000 words. Leave out appendices and reference lists if needed, or send fewer papers.

Can I ask for changes?

Yes, within the revisions of your package.
