Store description
Bake your first real sourdough loaf this weekend — no special equipment needed.
Slow Rise walks you from a jar of flour and water to a crackling, open-crumb loaf in six short chapters. You will learn how to start and keep a starter alive, read the dough instead of the clock, and fix the five most common problems: flat loaves, gummy crumb, pale crust, sour overload and a sleepy starter.
Inside: a printable weekend baking schedule, troubleshooting tables and plain advice from a baker who learned it all in a small home kitchen.

About this service
Nonfiction books carry what novels do not: numbered notes, a source list, subheadings two or three levels deep, tables, block quotes and lists, and all of it has to stay readable on a phone. Send the manuscript as a Word file or a PDF with selectable text, and we lay it out as an EPUB with a contents that includes subheadings, notes collected at the end of each chapter or the book with matching numbers, and a bibliography in one consistent style. Page-number indexes do not work in e-books, so an index from your print edition is left out or turned into a list of key terms by chapter.

Questions and answers
Will notes be clickable pop-ups?
No. Notes are numbered in the text and collected at the end of the chapter or book with the same numbers, which every e-reader can show.
Will links in my sources work?
Yes, web addresses in notes and the bibliography stay clickable. We do not check whether the pages still exist.
Can you add charts and photos?
No, the files contain text and tables only. Tables are rebuilt; charts and photos are listed as left out.
Will you change my text?
No, we keep it word for word. Typos are fixed only in Premium and only if you ask, with a list of every fix.
