About this service
Handmade ceramics sell on glaze, texture and shape, and those are exactly what a dark shelf or a busy studio table hides. Send a photo of your mug, bowl, vase or plate, and we turn it into a clean first photo for Etsy: the piece alone on white or a light plain background, centred and large, with soft side light that shows speckles, drips and the line where the glaze meets bare clay. Each PNG is made from one of your photos at about 1.5 megapixels, enough for Etsy and social media but not for large prints, and since the picture is redrawn, a stamped maker's mark or fine sgraffito can change slightly.
What is included
- What you getYou get 1, 3 or 5 ceramics pictures as PNG files of about 1.5 megapixels, one per photo in your package, square unless you ask otherwise. Fewer photos than pictures means the extras are variants of the same piece.
- Glaze as it isSpeckles, drips and colour shifts kept, not smoothed
- Handmade characterThrowing lines and small irregularities stay visible
- Soft side lightShows the curve of the form and the texture of the clay
- Sets as you sell themTwo mugs or a stack of bowls from one photo, kept together
- One look for the shopEvery piece on the same light background
How it works
- 1Your piecesYou upload photos and describe the glaze and size
- 2First photoWe set the piece alone on a light background with soft light
- 3Glaze checkYou compare glaze and shape with the real piece and ask for changes
What we need from you
Up to 5 photos as PNG, JPEG or WebP, taken in daylight if you can, with the piece sharp and the handle or opening turned the way you want buyers to see it. Tell us the real glaze colour, the size or capacity, and any marks, drips or textures that must stay.
We will ask you:
- What are the pieces, and what are they made of?
- What is the real glaze colour?
- What is the size or capacity?
- Which details must stay exactly as they are?

Questions and answers
Should a pottery photo be pure white or off-white?
Pure white suits bright glazes, while a soft cream or light grey helps pale and white glazes stand out instead of blending into the background. Etsy leaves the choice to you, so check its current photo guidelines and tell us which one you prefer.
Will the glaze colour be exact?
We keep the glaze as it is in your photo, so a photo taken in daylight gives the truest result. Screens differ, so compare the picture with the piece in daylight and ask for a revision if the colour has drifted.
Can you remove pinholes or a chipped rim?
No. Any defects, such as a chip, a crack or pinholes, stay, because the buyer must get what the photo shows, and we don't add a glaze, a handle or a gold rim the piece doesn't have. Dust and a messy table around it are removed, as they are not part of the piece.
Which photos are not suitable?
Photos of your own work, or ones you otherwise have the right to use, are fine; photos from other potters or shops are not. We don't make document photos, never change certificates or receipts, add no nudity, never put in a celebrity or another real person, and always deliver the picture with a full background.
