About this service

Pet sitters and dog walkers take care of someone's animal and often their home keys, so the contract should cover more than price. We fill in a template with the services (walks, drop-ins, overnight stays, boarding), rates and extras, booking and cancellation, the pet's health, vaccinations and behaviour, feeding and medicine, permission for emergency vet care and who pays for it, key handling and what happens if the owner cannot be reached. A pet information form is included as an annex.

Questions and answers

Is this legal advice?

No. It is a template for information. Rules on liability and animals differ by country, so have a lawyer check it and consider pet sitter insurance.

Who pays if the pet needs a vet?

The contract says the owner pays, gives consent for emergency care and sets a limit after which you must call them first.

Can I use it for cats and other pets?

Yes. The services and pet form cover dogs, cats and small pets.
