SOP set: opening and closing procedures for a small café
SOP-02: Closing the café
| Purpose | Leave the café clean, safe and ready for the morning shift |
| Who | The closing barista; the shift lead signs off |
| When | Start at 5:30 pm, doors locked at 6:00 pm, finished by 6:45 pm |
| You need | Closing checklist sheet, till key, cleaning caddy, blue cloths |
Before you start
Warning: Never switch off the main power at the wall. The fridges and the alarm run on the same board.
Steps
- At 5:30 pm, turn the door sign to "Last orders". Customers already inside can stay until 6:00.
- Switch the coffee machine to rinse mode. Press and hold the cup button for 5 seconds. You should see: "RINSE" flashing on the display and hot water running through both group heads for about 2 minutes.
- Take out the portafilters and soak them in the black container with one cleaning tablet. Leave them for 20 minutes.
- Move cakes and sandwiches to the back fridge. Label anything opened today with today's date and "Use by tomorrow".
- Record the fridge temperatures on the log sheet. You should see: between 1 °C and 5 °C. If a fridge shows above 5 °C, go to step 12 first.
- At 6:00 pm, lock the front door and turn the sign to "Closed".
- Close the till. Press MENU, then "End of day", then "Z report". You should see: the report printing with today's total. Do not count the cash at the counter; take the drawer to the office.
(Steps 8–14: floors, bins, alarm and handover note.)
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Fridge above 5 °C | Move food to the second fridge, note the time and temperature, message the shift lead |
| Z report does not print | Replace the paper roll; if it still fails, write the total from the screen and photograph it |
| Alarm will not set | Check the back door is fully shut; the alarm will not arm with it open |

About this service
Domains get lost in boring ways: an expired card, a renewal email sent to an old employee, a transfer blocked for 60 days because the contact details were changed the day before. We write a written guide for moving your domain to a new registrar or keeping it safe where it is: unlocking, getting the auth code, what the 60-day lock means, keeping DNS working during the move, and setting up auto-renewal, renewal reminders and correct contact details. Steps follow the screens of both registrars you name.
What is included
- What you getA written guide with transfer steps for your two registrars, a timeline with waiting periods, a renewal and security checklist and a short domain record sheet to keep, on the order page and as a Word (.docx) or PDF file.
- Transfer stepsUnlock, auth code, approval and confirmation
- Locks and waiting periodsThe 60-day rule and expiry windows explained
- DNS during the moveHow to keep the site and mail online
- Renewal safetyAuto-renew, reminders and owner contacts
- Written guideNot a call or a live lesson
How it works
- 1BriefYou name the domain and both registrars
- 2WritingWe write the steps and the timeline
- 3GuideYou make the transfer yourself
What we need from you
The domain extension, the current registrar and the one you want to move to, the expiry date, who is listed as owner, screenshots of the domain settings with personal data hidden, and what runs on the domain.
We will ask you:
- Which domain extension is it?
- Which registrar is it with now, and where do you want it?
- When does the domain expire?
- Is the domain registered in your name or someone else’s?

Questions and answers
Can you transfer the domain for me?
No. Transfers must be approved by the owner, and we never log in to your registrar. The guide covers each approval step.
My domain is registered to a former developer. What can I do?
The guide explains how to ask for an ownership change and what proof registrars usually request. For disputes, talk to a lawyer; this is not legal advice.
Do rules differ for country domains?
Yes, some country extensions use their own transfer process. Name the extension, and the guide follows its rules as published by the registry.
