Files: a ZIP archive with 5 HTML pages, the styles and 7 pictures drawn for the articles, ready to upload to the client's hosting. New articles are added by copying an article page. The pictures here are screenshots of the site.

Client: Anna Berg, who writes simple home recipes and wanted her own blog instead of posts scattered across social networks. Task: a calm blog in warm white and olive with serif headings: a home page, 3 articles from her notes (pantry staples, Sunday lunch prep, one-pan lemon chicken) and an About page with her email and Instagram.

The client and all details are made up.

About this service

A hiking and outdoor blog you put on your own hosting, for the trails you walked and what you took with you. Each trail report has a box with the distance, climb, time and starting point you give, your route in stages under headings, your gear notes, a picture of the landscape drawn for the blog, related routes and links to your social profiles. Send us your reports and notes, or the routes to write about, and we write them (about 600 words each), draw the pictures and build the site in plain HTML and CSS. Routes, conditions and safety notes are yours alone and dated as you say: we have not walked them, add no safety advice and cannot vouch for a trail's condition. It is a static site, with no admin panel, interactive maps, comments or forms. Hosting and the domain are on your side.

What we need from you

The name of the blog and the kind of outdoor trips it covers. For each route: where it starts and ends, the distance, climb and time, the date you walked it, the conditions you met, your gear and what readers should know, or your finished texts. Your safety note in your words, if you want one on every report. The author's name and a few lines for the About page, your contacts and social links. Your colours and style. Optionally up to 5 pictures as PNG, JPEG or WebP: your logo or your own trail photos.

We will ask you:

  • The name and topic of the blog
  • Routes
  • Your safety note and contacts
  • Colours and style

Questions and answers

Will you add safety advice or check the routes?

No. We write your own route and the conditions you met, with the date you walked it. We do not add safety advice or vouch for a trail; your note can remind readers to check the conditions before they go.

Can I add a map or a GPS track?

One of the package pictures can be a drawn route from the stages you list, and a link can lead to the map or track on the service you use. An interactive map is not included.

Can I use my own trail photos?

Yes, up to 5 with the order, placed where you say. The other picture slots get landscapes drawn for the blog.

Can I recommend gear?

You can say what you used and what you thought of it, with shop links and your disclosure. We do not add gear claims or picks of our own.

How do I add new routes later?

Copy a route page, change the facts box, the text and the picture in any code editor and link it from the home page; the guide shows how. Your developer can also move the design to a blogging platform.
