About this service

Roommates and couples rarely argue about the big rent payment; they argue about the groceries one person always buys, the streaming plan on someone's card and the utilities split that stopped being fair when someone moved in. Send the statements of everyone who pays, and we mark which transactions are shared, split each one by your rule (equal, by income share or by room size) and work out who owes whom. You get one clear number to settle, with every line behind it.

What is included

  • What you getAn Excel workbook with every shared transaction, who paid, each person's share and a final settle-up amount, plus a PDF summary you can send to the others. Totals are values without live formulas.
  • Shared vs personalEach transaction marked by your rules
  • Split ruleEqual, by income or by room
  • Transfers countedPayments between you already made
  • Who owes whomOne settle-up amount per person

  3. 3

What we need from you

Card or bank statements of each person for the period as PDF with selectable text or Excel, the split rule, which kinds of spending count as shared, and any cash payments or transfers already made between you. Hide account numbers before sending.

We will ask you:

  • How many people share costs, and how should they be split?
  • Which spending counts as shared?
  • Which period should we cover?
  • Have you already paid each other back for anything?

Questions and answers

Is everyone's statement needed?

Only of those who paid for shared things. If someone paid only in cash, list those payments in the brief.

Will the others see my personal spending?

The PDF summary shows only shared transactions. Personal lines stay out of it.

Can it handle different currencies?

Yes. Give us the exchange rate to use, or we take the rate on each date from a public source and note it.
