Year 1 totals: revenue $212,550, operating profit $37,188, cash at year end $36,988.

What the numbers say

  1. Months 1–2 are the tight spot. Cash drops to about $2,900 in month 2. Keep at least $3,000 in reserve or delay one hire until month 3.
  2. Summer carries the year. Months 5–9 bring about two-thirds of annual profit, so plan marketing and staff holidays around them.
  3. Price matters more than volume. Raising the average check by $0.50 lifts year 1 profit by about $16,900; selling 10% more cups adds about $15,000.
  4. Payback. At the current pace, the $38,000 start-up spend is covered in roughly 13 months.

All formulas are live in the Excel file: change any yellow cell on the Assumptions sheet and every month updates.

Client: Morning Dock, a coffee kiosk opening in March at a commuter ferry terminal. Owner's investment $25,000 plus a $20,000 equipment loan.

About this service

We build the forecast the way a food business actually earns: covers per day, average check, table turns or orders per hour, and food and drink cost as a share of sales. Rent, staff hours, delivery app commissions and fit-out costs go into the numbers, so you see when the venue breaks even and how slow months hit your cash.

What is included

  • What you getForecast tables for your venue: covers and average check, food cost, labor, rent, profit, cash flow and break-even, with every assumption listed. Tables come as text on the order page and as an Excel (.xlsx) file; this is a planning estimate, not financial, tax or investment advice.
  • Covers and checkDaily guests by weekday and season
  • Food and drink costCost share of sales for each
  • Labor and rentThe two biggest fixed lines
  • Delivery commissionsWhat platforms take from each order
  • Break-even coversGuests per day to cover costs

What we need from you

Format and seat count, opening hours, average check, food cost or supplier prices, rent, staff plan, delivery share and opening budget, pasted as text. Documents can also be attached as PDF, Word or Excel files.

We will ask you:

  • What format is the venue, and how many seats?
  • What is your average check and food cost?
  • What are rent, staff and other monthly costs?
  • Is the venue open already or still being planned?

Questions and answers

Can you include seasonality and tourist months?

Yes. Tell us which months are busy or slow and we apply that to covers in the Standard and Premium forecasts.

Will it work for a food truck or a delivery-only kitchen?

Yes. Instead of seats and table turns we count orders per hour or per event, plus platform commissions.

Can I show this to a bank or landlord?

You can use it as a starting point. Have an accountant review it before you sign a lease or apply for a loan.
