Review checklist before signing

  • Appendix A lists every page and feature you agreed on by email.
  • The deposit percentage and late-payment terms match how you actually work.
  • The liability cap and termination terms are acceptable under the law of [COUNTRY/STATE]; a local lawyer can confirm this.
  • Hosting and domain: decide who pays and add a clause if you manage them.
  • Both parties' legal names are written exactly as registered.

This is a template to adapt to your business, not legal advice.

Client: Lena Park, a freelance web designer trading as Park Studio Design. Template for one-off website projects. Fields in [BRACKETS] are filled in for each new client.

The client and all details are made up.

About this service

A site or app where people upload photos, videos, reviews or listings needs terms that say what users may post, who owns the uploads, what licence you get to show them and how you handle reports and takedowns. We write the terms of use and a content policy for your platform: banned content, age rules, account suspension, repeat infringers, a notice-and-takedown procedure and an appeal route for users whose content was removed. The template points out where the EU Digital Services Act or the US DMCA usually set extra steps, so you can check them for your market.

What is included

  • What you getFilled-in terms of use and a content policy with a takedown and appeal procedure, as text and a Word (.docx) file, plus a checklist to review before publishing. It is a template, not legal advice: have a lawyer in your market check it before use.
  • Content rulesWhat may and may not be posted
  • Ownership and licenceUsers keep rights, you may display
  • Takedown procedureReports, review and removal steps
  • Appeals and strikesSecond look and repeat infringers
  • Market flagsWhere DSA or DMCA add steps

How it works

  1. 1
BriefYou describe the platform and uploads
  2. 2
DraftingWe write terms and content policy
  3. 3
DeliveryYou get text, .docx and a checklist

What we need from you

What your platform is and what users upload, who can sign up and from which countries, whether you moderate before or after posting, how users report content, whether you sell or pay for anything, and your company name and country. Your current terms can be attached as Word or PDF.

We will ask you:

  • What do users upload to your platform?
  • Where are you based and where are your users?
  • Do you check content before or after it goes live?
  • What is the minimum age for users?

Questions and answers

Is this legal advice?

No. It is a template based on your answers. Platform rules depend on your country and your users' countries, so have a lawyer check it before you publish.

Does this make my platform DSA or DMCA compliant?

Not by itself. We include the sections these rules usually call for and mark what needs a process on your side, such as a designated agent or a transparency report.

Is a privacy policy included?

Not in Basic or Standard. Premium adds a short privacy policy that matches the data your platform collects.
