About this service

Office archives are full of papers that exist only on paper: typewritten memos, minutes, old contracts and reports with faded ribbon, struck-out letters, carbon-copy blur and stamps over the text. Send photos or scans of the pages, and we type them into an editable Word document word for word, keeping headings, numbered clauses and tables. Words we cannot read with confidence are marked [?], so you know exactly what to check against the original.

What we need from you

Clear photos or scans of the pages as JPG or PNG pictures (up to 5), the language, the page order, and whether to keep the old spelling and line breaks.

We will ask you:

  • What language are the pages in?
  • How many pages are there, and in what order?
  • Should we keep the original spelling and line breaks?
  • What should happen to handwritten notes and stamps?

Questions and answers

How should I photograph typewritten pages?

Flat, in daylight, the whole page in the frame and the text sharp when you zoom in. Faded or carbon copies read better with good light and no shadow.

What happens to crossed-out typing?

Letters struck out with xxxx or overtyped are left out, and the final word is typed. If you want the struck-out text kept, say so in the brief.

I have more than 5 pages. What can I do?

The form takes up to 5 pictures. Photograph two pages at once like a book spread, keeping the text sharp, or place another order for the rest.
