About this service

We write a game design document from your concept: the core loop, controls, mechanics, levels or missions, progression, the in-game economy and monetisation. It is written so programmers, artists and level designers each find what they need, with numbers where balance matters. Works for mobile, PC and indie projects from hyper-casual to RPG.

What is included

  • What you getA game design document with concept, core loop, mechanics, controls, level outlines, progression and, from Standard, economy and balance tables. It comes as formatted text you can paste into a document or send to developers; any time or cost figures are rough guidance, not a quote.
  • Core loopWhat the player does every minute
  • Mechanics and controlsRules, inputs and feedback
  • Levels or missionsGoals, obstacles and difficulty curve
  • Progression and economyFrom Standard: currencies, rewards and costs

Your game concept, genre and platform, reference games, the core mechanics you imagine, the target player and how the game earns money.

We will ask you:

  • What is the game and its genre?
  • Which platform and engine?
  • Which games are your references?
  • How will the game make money?
