Year 1 totals: revenue $212,550, operating profit $37,188, cash at year end $36,988.

What the numbers say

  1. Months 1–2 are the tight spot. Cash drops to about $2,900 in month 2. Keep at least $3,000 in reserve or delay one hire until month 3.
  2. Summer carries the year. Months 5–9 bring about two-thirds of annual profit, so plan marketing and staff holidays around them.
  3. Price matters more than volume. Raising the average check by $0.50 lifts year 1 profit by about $16,900; selling 10% more cups adds about $15,000.
  4. Payback. At the current pace, the $38,000 start-up spend is covered in roughly 13 months.

All formulas are live in the Excel file: change any yellow cell on the Assumptions sheet and every month updates.

About this service

We calculate prices for your products or services from the full cost: materials or wholesale price, packaging, labor time, platform and payment fees, shipping and a share of your overheads. For each item you see the cost, markup, margin, the price that hits your target margin and how many sales cover your fixed costs.

What is included

  • What you getA pricing table for your items: full cost, current and suggested price, markup, margin, break-even sales volume and notes on wholesale versus retail pricing, with assumptions listed. Tables come as text on the order page and as an Excel (.xlsx) file; this is a planning estimate, not financial, tax or investment advice.
  • Full cost per itemMaterials, time, fees and shipping
  • Markup vs marginBoth shown, so they are not confused
  • Target priceThe price that hits your margin goal
  • Wholesale and retailRoom for a reseller discount

Questions and answers

What is the difference between markup and margin?

Markup is profit as a share of cost; margin is profit as a share of price. A 50% markup is only a 33% margin, and we show both.

Do you check competitor prices?

No. You can paste competitor prices into the brief and we compare your numbers with them.

Can you price services by the hour?

Yes. We start from the income you need and your billable hours, then add costs and margin.
